I'm looking to build a PC that will last me 5-6 years without any upgrades. I usually play games at 1440p with medium to high settings. Should I go for a high-quality AM4 setup with 32GB of DDR4 RAM, or should I opt for a more affordable mid-range AM5 setup with 16GB of RAM?

If you're aiming for long-term use without upgrades, I definitely recommend going for an AM5 build with 32GB of RAM. If that's way over your budget, consider saving up a bit more instead.
Look, the AM4 socket is basically on its way out. Investing in it doesn’t make sense anymore. With AM5, you get better support for new technologies and it’s more future-proof. Sure, 16GB of RAM is on the lower end, but AM5 is a better bet for the long haul.
If I had the funds, AM5 with 16GB RAM is tempting. You could always upgrade the RAM later if it’s not cutting it in a couple of years.
Honestly, how long your PC lasts really depends on your performance needs and the types of games you play. I have an AMD 9800X3D but I'm not expecting to still be using it in 5-6 years. Some might be fine with it though.
Go for AM5 with at least 32GB of RAM! If you can't swing that, you might want to reconsider how long you expect your system to last.
