Should I Get a 24″ 1080p Monitor for Competitive FPS Gaming?

I'm considering adding a 24-inch monitor with a resolution of 1080p and a refresh rate of 300Hz (or higher) specifically for competitive first-person shooter games like CS2. Currently, I have two 1440p monitors: a main Gigabyte M27Q at 170Hz and a secondary Prism+ monitor at 70Hz. My PC features a 7700 CPU and a 7800XT GPU, and in CS2, I can achieve over 300 FPS on less demanding maps and around 240 FPS on more demanding ones at 1440p. If I switch to 1080p, I'm hoping to sustain a comfortable FPS. Will having a 1440p monitor alongside this 1080p setup affect the FPS performance on my new monitor? Is it worth investing in this monitor for FPS gaming?

You might already be limited by your CPU, so dropping to a lower resolution probably won't boost your FPS significantly. A good idea would be to test a lower res on your current monitor and see if there's any change before switching.

Consider going for a 1440p monitor and just scaling down to 1080p when your FPS dips below 300, or tap into AMD's version of DLSS for extra performance. You might also save some cash by sticking with a 1080p monitor, depending on your needs!

If you're aiming for 300 FPS at 1080p, your current hardware should handle it well. A smaller monitor can help you focus better, and your 1440p monitor won't impact your FPS on this new setup at all! Definitely a worthwhile purchase.
