Should I Go for a Virtual Machine or Full Linux Install as a Beginner?

Hey everyone! I'm really excited to start learning Linux as part of my self-designed curriculum for cloud roles. However, I'm not sure how to dive in. Should I run Linux using a Virtual Machine (like VirtualBox or VMware) or do a full install on my laptop? I want the experience to feel authentic, but I'm worried about potential risks to my hardware, especially concerning issues like overheating, battery drain, and driver conflicts. As a beginner, I want to avoid making any mistakes that could harm my device. Is it safer to start with a VM, and what are the advantages or disadvantages of each approach? Could working with Linux directly actually damage my laptop in any way? I appreciate any advice you all can share! Thanks in advance!

No need to worry about damaging your hardware! Linux is pretty reliable, and I've never seen it cause any problems. It’s actually designed to work with a wide range of hardware.

I had a Linux issue once that messed with my battery, but overall, it shouldn't harm anything.
