Should I Go for the RTX 5060 Ti with 16 GB or the RTX 5070?

I'm trying to decide between the RTX 5060 Ti with 16 GB of VRAM and the RTX 5070. The 5070 is only $120 more, but I'm concerned about its 12 GB of VRAM. I know it has about a 30% performance boost in most modern games, but they seem to perform pretty similarly in memory-heavy games like Indiana Jones. Do you think the VRAM of the 5070 will be a limiting factor in the next five years? I'm also worried about the higher power draw and noise from the 5070, but the performance difference is hard to ignore.

I have the 5070, and I'm really happy with its performance. Sure, 16 GB is nice, but the 5060 Ti doesn't compete when it comes to power.

If you're concerned about VRAM, I actually think you should consider the 9070 for just $50 more than MSRP if you can find it. The 5070 and 5060 Ti are quite different in performance levels.

That's a pretty good idea!

Honestly, it's a no-brainer; the 5060 Ti can't keep up with the 5070 just because of its VRAM. Sure, it has 4 GB more, but the raw power of the 5070 will make it shine now and in the near future. If you're looking at games that are out, the 5070 handles them way better than the 5060 Ti.

If you're playing at high settings like 1440p without DLSS, then yes, you might hit that VRAM limit with some games down the line. But if you're fine playing with DLSS or not maxing out settings, you should be good. Most folks will likely prefer the overall performance gain of the 5070 over the extra VRAM of the slower 5060 Ti.

Indiana Jones isn't the only VRAM-demanding game, but compared to others, it's kind of unique. Even there, the 5070 outperforms the 5060 Ti if you adjust the streaming budget settings. Though honestly, neither card is going to be 'future-proof' for five years. If you're okay with turning settings down in the future, the 5070 could be a solid choice.

It really depends on how you game. If you heavily mod your games, you'll probably need more than 12 GB of VRAM soon. But if you’re just playing regular games, 12 GB on the 5070 should be just fine.

Yeah, I do mod my games whenever possible. I remember upgrading from a GTX 970 to a 3060 Ti, thinking it would be a huge leap, but it struggled with max settings at 1080p. Now that I’m at 1440p, it’s really not cutting it anymore.
