Should I Overclock My RAM for Better Performance?

I recently bought a Ryzen 7 7700X and a used set of DDR5 5600MHz CL36 RAM. After doing some research, I found out that the optimal RAM speed for AMD processors seems to be 6000MHz with CL30 timings. Since I'm not looking to spend money on a new RAM set, I'm trying to figure out if I should attempt to overclock my current RAM. Is it possible to achieve 6000MHz while maintaining decent timings? Alternatively, I'm considering running my RAM at 5200MHz for tighter timings. What do you think is better for performance on an AMD system: faster speeds or lower timings? Is it even worth the hassle, and how much of a difference does it make?

Honestly, the performance difference you’ll see from either approach is pretty minimal—just a few percentage points. It might be worth tinkering a bit to see if your RAM can handle faster speeds or tighter timings, but ultimately, you’ll have to run some benchmarks to gauge actual performance gains. Just keep in mind that stability is key!

That makes sense. I guess I’ll do some testing before making any big changes!
