I'm currently using a Ryzen 9 7900X with a full 64GB RAM setup (4x16GB G.Skill Flare X5 at 6000MHz CL32). The problem is, it's only running at 3000MHz right now. I'm wondering if it's a good idea to clock it up to 6000MHz for better performance. I've heard that might make it unstable. Alternatively, should I just remove two RAM sticks to run it at 32GB but keep it stable at 6000MHz? For my work in editing, is 64GB at 3000MHz better, or would 32GB at 6000MHz be more beneficial? Also, for context, my motherboard is an MSI MAG B650M Mortar WiFi.

Actually, 3000MHz is just 6000MT/s, so it looks like you're already at the right speed! If Windows shows 6000, you're good. You don’t need to overclock unless you want to push performance further, but be careful as that can lead to instability. Just make sure your cooling is sufficient if you decide to go that route. It might be a better option to keep all 64GB for editing; you’ll benefit from more memory when working on heavier projects. If you’re not reaching RAM limits, then stick with what you have!
Thanks for clarifying! I thought I was missing something since it seemed low for 6000MHz. Guess I’ll stick with the 64GB for now. Appreciate the tips!
