Should I Prioritize GPU Performance or VRAM for Gaming and Work?

I'm looking to buy a new graphics card since I'm currently using a 1060 3GB. While it's been okay, I realize it's not going to cut it for upcoming games. I initially thought about getting a 5060 Ti with 16GB of VRAM, but I've heard that it might have too much VRAM for the performance it delivers. Now, I'm considering the 5070, but I'm worried about the 12GB of VRAM, especially since a lot of QHD games can require at least 10GB. I've also noticed the 9070 that comes with 16GB of VRAM. If I were just gaming, I'd likely go for an RX card, but I'm also working with programs like After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Blender, and I've been told Nvidia is better due to its CUDA capabilities. So, should I go for better performance or more VRAM?

If you're working with Blender and DaVinci Resolve, go for an Nvidia GPU without a doubt. It's not that much more expensive—maybe 10-20%—and the 12GB should be sufficient for 1440p. If you're really concerned about memory, consider saving up for the 5070 Ti with 16GB.

Definitely choose an Nvidia GPU. The 5070 is solid, and trust me, going AMD might not be worth the slight savings you'll see. As someone who has owned both brands, Nvidia is simply better for creative work, especially for software that harnesses CUDA.

But isn't 12GB a bit low for some tasks?
