I'm graduating with a degree in computer science next spring but don't have any internships or hands-on experience yet. Given the current job market, I want to make sure I'm as qualified as possible. I'm considering whether getting an Azure certification would be worth my time. I enjoyed my distributed systems class where we used Java, Quarkus, and Rancher Desktop, but I see that Java isn't very popular in the US job market, and Quarkus seems niche. Plus, I noticed that Microsoft removed their .NET certification, which I was initially interested in. Could an Azure certification serve as a good alternative to validate my skills in .NET and C#?

Definitely look into getting some Azure certifications! Starting with the AZ-900 is a great way to familiarize yourself with Azure cloud services. Plus, since you're still a student, you'll likely find these certs are more affordable.
Congrats on almost finishing your degree! Personally, I think Azure certs are very beneficial. I’ve got the SC-200 and SC-100, and they opened a lot of doors for me. It's definitely worth the effort to get certified in Azure.
What kind of job are you aiming for? While Java is still used, it's not as in-demand as other languages. Tailor your certifications to the roles you want—like if you're interested in Azure, you might skip the AZ-900 since it’s too general. Instead, consider the AZ-204 or AZ-400 if you're into DevOps.
AZ-204 might be a bit challenging since it digs deep into specific Azure services.
