I just ordered a new Dell laptop that's coming with Ubuntu pre-installed. I'll be using it with my partner, who isn't very tech-savvy and has only used iPhones for a long time. I've had some experience with Linux, mainly Mint on my desktop and Spiral Linux on a tablet, but I want to know if I should keep Ubuntu as the operating system or switch to something like Mint or Zorin right away. The last thing I want is for my partner to get accustomed to a certain look and feel and then have to adjust to a new environment later on. Any advice?

Make sure everything works perfectly with Ubuntu before considering a switch. You might miss out on any OEM features if you change the OS early on. Just take some time to explore what’s included with Ubuntu first.
My mother-in-law had a Dell with Ubuntu and it worked flawlessly for years. I can't recall her facing any issues with it, so you might want to give Ubuntu a shot before switching.
I think you should stick with Ubuntu. It's user-friendly and works well with your new hardware since it's already pre-installed. Since your partner is used to iOS, maybe consider installing gsConnect on Ubuntu to help them transfer files and control the computer from their phone. It's super handy!
Oh wow, I had no idea these existed, thanks!
Unless you really want the Cinnamon desktop environment that Mint offers, I say stick with Ubuntu. It should do just fine for your needs.

Good point! I'll check out the OEM features before making any changes.
