I've recently upgraded to a 5070 TI and I'm looking to switch from my 27" 1440p monitor to a 34" 1440p ultra-wide. I was thinking about getting a 9800x3d CPU to pair with my new GPU, but with RAM prices soaring, I'm a bit unsure. Is my current CPU solid enough to handle ultra-wide gaming for a few more years, or should I just go ahead and upgrade now? I primarily play AAA games, especially Battlefield 6.

A solid option would be to either snag a 5700X or, if possible, look into an i5-14400F or i7-14700F, especially if you can update the motherboard BIOS to optimize CPU performance. This could save you some money on RAM as well!
If you're considering an upgrade, I’d recommend at least going for a 5800X3D or a 5700X3D. The 5600 may not fully harness the potential of your 5070, so it could be worth the investment.
I was in a similar boat—my 5600 was bottlenecking my 4070 TI at 3440x1440. I ended up getting the 7800x3D from Microcenter, and it's been great! You might want to think about an upgrade if you start feeling limited by your current CPU.
Intel's 12th and 14th gen CPUs can work with DDR4 RAM and perform decently, but keep in mind that 13th and 14th gen CPUs have improved memory sensitivity due to additional cache. So if you're looking for good performance without splurging on RAM, that’s something to consider.
