Should I Upgrade My CPU or Go for a Full AM5 Setup?

I'm looking to upgrade my PC but I'm on a budget and weighing my options. I have two possible paths: I could either just upgrade my CPU and cooler, possibly to the Ryzen 7 5700X3D (but I'm open to better suggestions), or I could fully upgrade to an AM5 setup, which would mean changing my motherboard, CPU, and RAM. The full AM5 upgrade is tempting, but it'll leave me tight on funds afterward.

I'm curious if sticking with AM4 is a viable option until at least 2027. My primary games are War Thunder, Wuthering Waves, and BF6, and I've noticed my rig struggling a bit lately.

Current specs:
- Motherboard: TUF gaming B550M-PLUS WIFI II
- GPU: RTX 3060ti 8GB
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- PSU: 800W Bronze (brand unknown)
- RAM: 16GB G.SKILL Trident Z
- AIO: Tecware Mirage 240

I'd really appreciate any input or suggestions!

If you can snag the 5700X3D at a good price, that sounds like the way to go. I recently upgraded to one and I have no regrets! Just keep an eye on those RAM prices, they can be a bit rough right now.

How's the performance of the 5700X3D treating you? I feel you on the RAM prices, that's why I'm hesitant about AM5!

I'm running a 5900X with a 7900XTX and I'm able to handle all the latest AAA titles without any issues, except for BF6— that one's a beast! A 5700X3D should give you a noticeable boost in gaming performance. If you can wait, it might be worth holding out for the last AM5 generation or even the second AM6 generation to see what they offer.

I’m surprised I can still run BF6 decently on my 3600, though I do play at 1080p!
