Should I Upgrade My Current Gaming System or Wait for a New Build?

I'm wondering if my current gaming setup is worth upgrading or if I should save up for a new build, possibly with DDR5. Here are my specs: I have an Intel I5-11600K CPU, an AMD RX6700XT GPU, 3200MHz Corsair DDR4 RAM, a 3GB SN750 memory, an AW3225M QHD LED display, and an MSI B590 motherboard (I wasn't aware that I should've gone with a Z board during my first build). I primarily game at 1440p, playing titles like Arc Raiders and BF6. Should I consider switching out my CPU while staying with DDR4, or do you think I should just save for a completely new setup?

How's your gaming experience right now? Are you satisfied? It's always a good idea to buy what you feel you can afford at the moment. Personally, I’m about to drop a hefty $5000 on a new build because I feel my setup has aged. If you think your current build can last for another 2-3 years without major issues, it might be worth sticking it out a little longer before the next big upgrade.

You can consider going for the 14600K along with a B760 DDR4 motherboard and a new GPU. Whether you upgrade your CPU or GPU first is up to you; both options work well together!

You might want to watch for sales on the 14600K or maybe pick up a 12600K if you can snag it for around $100-$125. It’s hard to predict when those deals will come, though. Just keep in mind that if you’re outside the US, prices could be different.

Don't forget that you'd need a new motherboard with that CPU upgrade! I wouldn't spend money to stick with DDR4, so looking at AM5 or the next Intel generation could be better for your build.

Just be mindful that regardless of what you upgrade, there’s likely going to be some performance bottleneck. I’d recommend either saving up for AM5/AM6 or the next Intel series, or just stick with your current setup for another year or two.

If you're looking for a significant upgrade, focusing on a better GPU might be your best bet. I have a similar setup with a 10600KF paired with a 6900 XT, and it runs great. But if you're set on getting a new CPU, then the 14700K is probably your best option. Just make sure to get it new and update the BIOS first!
