I'm in my first year of programming, and I'm really struggling to understand Java. No matter how hard I try, including taking a Udemy course and practicing daily, I just can't seem to grasp the concepts. It's really impacting my mental health. Any advice on how to tackle this?

Maybe consider other languages first, like Python or JavaScript? They can be more beginner-friendly and will give you a good foundation. Once you grasp programming concepts, transitioning to Java will likely be easier. Plus, don’t forget to have fun with coding; play around and experiment without the pressure of projects right away!

That’s a good idea! Starting with something simpler might really help.

Honestly, if you’re feeling burned out, stepping away for a bit can give you perspective. And don't hesitate to check if your class is covering concepts that you’re not quite catching. Sometimes, a little extra help can make all the difference!

Don't get discouraged! Your first year can be tough, but it's normal for many students to feel lost. Some people just need to find their learning style. If books and videos aren’t clicking, maybe hands-on coding or coding games could help? Just remember, struggling doesn’t mean you aren’t capable. Keep at it, and don’t hesitate to explore different resources!

I hit that same wall with Java, believe me! What helped me was slowing down my practice. Rather than trying to rush through courses, I focused on understanding the 'why' behind the concepts. Many think they have to ace everything quickly. It's okay to take your time and still succeed!

I totally feel you! Sometimes, it just takes time to get over that initial hurdle. A lot of people struggle when first diving into object-oriented programming, and it's common to feel overwhelmed. Try building simple projects rather than just going through courses or books. And don’t stress too much about getting it all right immediately; understanding will come with practice. You’re definitely not alone in this journey!
