Struggling to Reinstall Windows After Hardware Issues

I've been having a tough time with my PC lately. It originally had Windows 10, but it started acting up—graphics crashes, random reboots, you name it. I turned off Windows Defender and stopped updates for a bit, thinking that might have caused some issues. In an attempt to fix this, I tried various solutions like reinstalling drivers and checking for overheating. Eventually, I decided to do a clean install of Windows. I created a bootable USB and wiped my hard drive completely. While I was able to install it once, it soon began freezing and rebooting again. When I tried a second installation, I couldn't even get past the setup screens before it rebooted again. I made a bootable Ubuntu USB to rule out issues with my USB drive creation. However, when I tried to boot from that, I encountered "Windows failed to start" and later got a message saying, "a media driver your computer needs is missing." I've checked my RAM and SSD, and they seem fine since Ubuntu runs without any issues. I'm at a loss here and could really use some help to get Windows installed properly.

Not sure why you're having these issues, but have you considered sticking with Linux? It might be less hassle if Windows isn't a must-have for you. Also, run memtest to check your RAM and look into S.M.A.R.T for your SSD.

It sounds like you might be dealing with hardware complications. I recommend trying a distribution like Linux Mint—after a while, you might find you prefer it over Windows. Many users have made the switch and never looked back!

Give Linux Mint a shot! You might just find it suits your needs better than Windows.

It’s likely you’re facing a hardware issue. Windows isn't the problem here, as you mentioned Ubuntu runs fine. Maybe your CPU or other components are malfunctioning, especially since it started with graphics problems. You should check everything carefully.

Honestly, Microsoft seems to be pushing users with older systems to switch to Linux. If you're able to, consider doing so for a while; after six months, you might find going back to Windows isn't appealing anymore.
