Hey everyone! My brother and I just upgraded our Wi-Fi setup with new USB antennas after experiencing poor performance from the ones that came with our PCs. Initially, we both faced lag spikes that made gaming nearly impossible. However, while this problem resolved itself on my brother's PC, mine still has significant latency issues even after a month. We're both using the same setup and are at the same distance from the router, so I'm confused about why I'm still having problems. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Hey! When you mention 'new Wi-Fi antennas,' are you talking about upgrading the antennas on your PC or did you get a new router with antennas? For gaming, I really recommend using a wired connection if you can. It makes a huge difference. If that's not an option, try checking the Quality of Service (QoS) settings on your router. You might have to enable it to prioritize your gaming traffic. Also, could you share your usual internet speed when connected via cable? Maybe throttling your PCs to use less bandwidth could help manage the lag too.
Throttling means limiting the amount of bandwidth each device can use, kind of like putting a speed limit on your network traffic. This could help manage the load and maybe reduce those spikes!

We had built-in, screwed-in antennas and recently bought USB antennas. A new router came when we switched Wi-Fi companies but I haven’t tried to set up QoS on it, I might give that a try. I’ll look at getting my PC wired. We normally get around 130-150 Mbps down and 40-50 Mbps up speed. What do you mean when you say ‘throttle each PC’?
