Hey everyone! I just finished selecting components for my new gaming setup aimed at 1440p ultra gaming, targeting around 100 fps, primarily for single-player games. I'm also planning to run a few virtual machines, but the focus is on gaming. I'm hoping this build lasts me for the next 5-7 years.
I live in Belgium, but I can source some parts from neighboring countries. I've already bought the CPU and RAM and will be reusing my keyboard, mouse, and storage from my previous setup. What do you think of my parts list?
Here's the breakdown:
**CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 9700X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor
**CPU Cooler:** ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro A-RGB 360 77 CFM
**Thermal Compound:** ARCTIC MX-6 2 g
**Motherboard:** Asus B650E MAX GAMING WIFI ATX AM5
**Memory:** Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000
**Storage:** Crucial BX500 240 GB SSD, Samsung 980 500 GB NVME SSD, Seagate BarraCuda 1 TB HDD
**Video Card:** Sapphire PURE Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB
**Case:** Lian Li O11D EVO RGB ATX Mid Tower
**Power Supply:** MSI MPG A850GS 850W 80+ Gold Certified

Nice parts list! Just a reminder that the Liquid Freezer III Pro may not be the best choice for single CCD Ryzen chips since it can perform worse compared to cheaper options like the non-Pro 280mm version. Consider that when looking for cooling solutions!
As for VRM performance on your motherboard, it seems solid enough, but do some research to see which models work best with your CPU for overclocking if you ever decide to go that route.
Overall though, I'd say you're on the right track!
Looks like you've got a solid build! If aesthetics are a priority, the Lian Li case is a great choice. However, €200 just for fans does seem a bit high. You might want to consider whether every fan is necessary.
On the GPU front, the 9070 XT should serve you well at 1440p, but for a little more, you could grab an RTX 5080, which would handle things even better, especially if you ever dive into more demanding games down the line.
Also, regarding the thermal paste, remember that the Arctic cooler usually comes with some already, so that extra purchase might not have been necessary.
I think downgrading the fans could save some cash for an upgrade elsewhere! And you're right — the 9070 XT is likely fine for your needs!
One thing to think about is your monitor choice. If you can stretch your budget, consider a 240 Hz panel; they make a huge difference in gaming smoothness, especially if you hit high FPS! It sounds like you did good research, but the prices can be tricky with all the options. Just keep an eye out for potential good deals!

Good to know! I was actually looking at the 280mm as a more balanced option. And thanks for the heads up on the VRM — I’ll dive deeper into those comparisons.
