Thoughts on My One-Year Full Stack Developer Learning Path?

I'm currently at a stage where I can code basic apps like to-do lists and calculators, and I have a solid foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript basics. My goal is to become a full stack developer in one year, with a structured learning path that includes mastering JavaScript and React in the first phase, followed by learning Node.js, Express, and MongoDB in the second phase, and gaining real-world experience through an internship. Ultimately, I want to build a portfolio of projects and secure remote job opportunities. I'm sharing my detailed learning plan here and would love to get your feedback on its feasibility!

I'd recommend checking out The Odin Project. It offers a solid curriculum that some find really effective for full stack development, plus it might save you some time figuring out how to structure your learning.

Honestly, I think your learning plan has potential but lacks a few essentials. You should consider having larger, more comprehensive projects in your portfolio rather than focusing just on the basics. Also, be ready to triple your time estimates for each phase; learning new technologies often takes longer than expected.

Try to keep it realistic. Remove half of your project requirements and make sure you’re really mastering the core concepts before moving on. It's okay to adapt your plan as you go based on what you actually learn!

I’m concerned about your job market strategy. Getting hired as a self-taught developer, especially for remote positions, can be incredibly competitive, particularly in the US. If you're thinking about the Ethiopian job market, I’ve heard some companies are hiring from your region, possibly for cost reasons. So, focusing on building a strong portfolio could be key for you.

Have you considered that your learning path might be a bit too ambitious? Securing a remote job and landing an internship simultaneously is a tall order, especially in today's saturated market. You may want to prioritize either internships or full-time positions in the near term, rather than trying to do it all within a year.
