Thoughts on Switching to Defender for Servers?

I'm considering moving our antivirus from Sentinel One to Defender for Servers, specifically the P2 license, and I have a few questions. Are there any users here? How has your experience been? If you've used it, what do you think are its drawbacks? Also, for servers that are strictly on-prem, could the P2 license be more than we really need? I appreciate any insights!

I've been using Defender for Servers, and overall, I'm pretty happy with it. Performance-wise, it's solid, but I don't have much to compare it against. Just keep in mind that sometimes the policy application can be a bit slow and the web UI isn't the fastest. Unless budget constraints are a major issue, I think the features you'll gain make it worth switching.

I've only just started using Defender for Servers, and I'm having some trouble. Deploying policies with MDE is fine, but when it comes to Domain Controllers and Hyper-V hosts, it's a challenge. Since following best practices means they aren’t syncing with Entra Connect, I can’t include them in my deployment group.

Good question! You don't necessarily need to open your servers for full access to the Defender cloud portal. You can deploy policies via SCCM, which is a great alternative. Just a heads up, those servers will need internet access to send back telemetry.
