Trouble Connecting to the Internet – DHCP Server Issue

I've had this PC for about a year and it worked fine with a wired connection until yesterday when it stopped connecting to the internet. I keep getting a message saying it can't find the DHCP server. I'm confused because I can't get a wireless connection either, and I've never been able to since I built the PC. Just to clarify, the ethernet cable works perfectly with my Xbox, so it's not the cable itself.

The way you mentioned your ethernet connection was kind of confusing! Just to clarify, you meant the cable isn't working anymore, right? That happens sometimes, but if it works with other devices like your Xbox, then it might not be the cable. Maybe try resetting your router or checking for any updates for your network drivers.

Yes, sorry about that! I did mean the internet cable stopped working yesterday.

Resetting the router could help, worth a shot!

It sounds like your router isn’t assigning an IP address to your PC anymore, which is what DHCP does. To troubleshoot, you can check your network adapters in Device Manager. Here’s how: 1. Press **Windows key + X**, then select **Device Manager**. 2. Look under **Network adapters**. Do you see your Ethernet device listed? Do any of them have a yellow triangle or show as unknown? That could give you clues on what’s wrong.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll check and get back to you!

I see your point, here’s what my Device Manager shows. I can see Ethernet listed, but there's a yellow triangle on it.
