Troubleshooting Ethernet Connection Issues: Unidentified Network Problem

I've been using my Ethernet connection without issues for years, but suddenly it's saying 'Unidentified Network' and isn't connecting. Just yesterday, while gaming with a friend, my internet slowed down significantly. Eventually, the Ethernet connection dropped and has been stuck on this error ever since. I've tried all the usual fixes I could find online, like flushing the DNS and playing around with settings, but nothing seems to work. When I tried releasing and renewing the IPs, it said, 'No operation can be performed.' Windows Help suggested that 'No DHCP was found,' but my laptop connects just fine. I've also restarted my router and modem, replaced both Ethernet cables, and even swapped out my powerline adapter with a new one. I'm really at a loss for what else to try. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you might be having issues with the powerline adapters. Make sure both of them are directly plugged into wall outlets—none of that surge protector stuff. Also, check if the 'power' and 'Home' lights are lit on both. Those need to be glowing for the connection to work. If one of them isn't lit, try unplugging and replugging them. They have to be able to communicate with each other to make the Ethernet work. That could be the issue here!

I had a similar problem before, and it turned out that one of my adapters was faulty. You should double-check if both adapters are working and not just put them in the same outlet! If they’re still not communicating, maybe try resetting them.

You might want to check the signal strength between the two powerline adapters. If they're far apart or on different electrical circuits, this could affect the connection. Sometimes, just moving them closer can help. Also, if you have a lot of devices plugged into the same circuit, it can cause interference. Just a thought!

That makes sense! I might need to rearrange some things and see if that improves the signal. Thanks for the tip!
