I'm completely new to programming and really want to learn HTML5 and CSS. However, I don't have any good resources in mind that are free and suitable for beginners. My previous attempts at learning HTML during school with videos didn't work out, so I'm skeptical about relying on them again. I'm also curious if having a paid course with certification is actually important for someone just starting out. Any advice would be super helpful!

Read the official documentation, watch some videos, and most importantly, get your hands dirty by practicing. I wouldn't recommend paying for courses with certification—they don’t hold much value early on. Just focus on building projects instead!
MDN is my go-to for documentation. It's super helpful! Also, check out Kevin Powell on YouTube; he's got some awesome tutorials.
You should definitely check out freeCodeCamp.org; they have some really solid lessons for HTML and CSS that are perfect for newcomers.
Khan Academy was where I started learning HTML and CSS. I later moved on to practicing with tutorials on W3Schools. Plus, try to build a clone of a website you like! Forget about certifications for now; just focus on creating cool projects.
The Odin Project is another great resource if you're looking for a comprehensive introduction to web development.
Yeah, some courses are free but might charge for certificates or grading. So, free courses are definitely a good option too!
