What are the most reliable SSD options for laptops?

I'm looking for advice on reliable SSDs for my laptop. After diagnosing my Samsung SSD, I discovered it had entered read-only mode and found one damaged block. Researching the issue, I found it's a problem many Samsung SSD users have faced, particularly due to a lack of firmware updates. I'm particularly interested in SSD brands that have a better track record than Samsung. Any recommendations? Thanks!

WD Black drives are another reliable choice if you’re considering performance. They generally have a good track record and work well for gaming too!

Make sure to find an SSD that offers the best write speed to price ratio; that helps you maximize value.

From my experience, Samsung consumer NVMe drives have been pretty sketchy recently, often ending up in read-only mode without much warning. If you're looking for reliability, I'd recommend the Crucial MX500 for SATA or the Crucial P3/P5 Plus for NVMe. They tend to be boringly reliable and rarely run into issues. WD Blue SN570 or SN580 are solid choices too, decent performance without dramatic failures. For budget builds, Kingston NV2 works, but overall, Crucial seems to be the safest option right now to avoid unpleasant surprises.

Thanks a lot! I'll look into that 🙂

Too bad Crucial left the consumer market recently to focus on data centers. The MX500 has been out of production for a while, but I would recommend checking out the Hynix P41 Platinum; it's one of the top NVMe options currently available.
