Hey everyone! I recently got an Acer GX-781 for free from a family member, but there's no hard drive in it. I'm totally lost and not sure what type of hard disk I should be looking for. Can I use any hard drive as long as it meets certain specs, or do I need a specific one? The PC is a bit older, so I don't expect it to run the latest heavy games like Genshin Impact, but I'd love to be able to play something like The Sims on it. I'm really new to this, so any help would be greatly appreciated! (And sorry if my English isn't perfect; I'm still learning!)

Thanks for all the replies! Do you think this Kingston NV3 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1TB M.2 SSD would be a good choice? It seems similar in shape to what was previously installed.
I'd recommend going for an SSD instead of a traditional hard drive. Most PCs made in the last couple of decades should support 2.5" SATA SSDs easily. Just check if your model can handle M.2 NVMe SSDs, which are what's used more commonly nowadays.
You should be good with any SATA hard drive! A 2.5" SATA SSD might be less common but they are available and would work fine for your needs.
Actually, that one won't work. You'll need a SATA M.2 SSD. It's the same shape as NVMe, but they have different interfaces. Otherwise, a standard 2.5" SSD is a great alternative. You can check out a list of compatible options to help you pick one!
