I recently picked up a new Apple Watch from an Apple Store. The employee asked me to scan a QR code with my phone, which opened the Apple Store app and prompted me to share information from my Apple account. The store was crowded, so I didn't get a chance to read the details carefully. Does anyone know exactly what information this process shares with the employee?

Part of the process may also be used to confirm that the person collecting the order matches the order details. The QR code and your identification are still used for the actual pickup verification, so the account information is mainly there to personalize the store interaction and complete the purchase paperwork.
The feature is called Connect and Personalize. It gives the employee a limited profile view connected to your Apple account, including your devices, possible trade-in values, backup status, and whether devices have AppleCare+. It may also show eligibility for services or trial offers such as Music or Fitness. Your name and email can be filled in automatically so the store can send your receipt.
