My SSD just died, and I had to get a new one. I'm switching from Windows to Linux. I've used Pop OS in the past for a short time but had to revert back to Windows. I would love recommendations for other distros besides Pop OS. Gaming is a priority for me, so I need Steam to work. I also use programs like Blender, Da Vinci Resolve, and Unity. My PC specs include an RTX 3060ti, an Intel i5, and 16GB of RAM.

You could also explore CachyOS or other options like Aurora, Bluefin, Nobara, or even VanillaOS. Just a heads-up: Da Vinci Resolve officially runs on Rocky Linux 8.6, but you can install it on Bazzite, Bluefin, and Aurora easily.
You might want to try Linux Mint. It's known for good Nvidia support and has Steam support built-in, making it a great option for those migrating from Windows.
Most mainstream distros support gaming and run Steam well. If you're open to trying a new distro focused on gaming, check out Bazzite. It has an immutable design based on Fedora Silverblue, which might suit your needs.
I wouldn't say gaming is my main focus since I work too, but Bazzite sounds intriguing. I might consider it once I can upgrade my gaming setup.
If you're happy with Pop OS, why switch? It's great if you already know how to use it. But if you're curious, I'm sure there are smoother alternatives out there.
I had some hiccups when I started with Pop OS and I'm just curious if there are better options for an easier install experience.
Pop OS is in a bit of a transition with COSMIC just released. It works well, but there are still some bugs. Just so you know:
- Blender works great.
- Da Vinci Resolve is fine, but only with Nvidia drivers.
- Unity has mixed results.
- Steam is a given; there’s even Steam OS if you're all in on gaming!
I recently switched from Pop 22 to Pop 24, and I'm having issues with COSMIC and Wayland, especially with Unity hub. It's been a bit of a rough ride, so I decided to give Mint another shot, and I'm really enjoying it. Cinnamon has improved a lot!

I've heard Linux Mint is good for newcomers. How does it compare to Zorin OS?
