What Should I Do After Running a Suspicious EXE File?

I accidentally ran a sketchy EXE file that I downloaded from a site called dodi repacks. I didn't think it would have a virus, but Windows Security flagged it as a trojan and quarantined the file. After I restarted my PC, I noticed a black window flash briefly, which might have been the command prompt. I immediately disconnected from the internet and reset my PC. Should I be concerned? What steps should I take next?

It's good that Windows Defender caught it, but just running it once might not be enough. If it didn’t find anything on the second scan, that’s a good sign, but keep an eye on your system for any strange behavior.

You're probably fine since you reset your PC. If you didn’t keep any files, that reduces the chance of leftover malware. However, if you want to be extra careful, consider doing a complete reinstall of Windows from a USB drive.

The flashing command prompt could be harmless, like updates finishing up. But since Windows Defender flagged the file, it’s best to run a full system scan again to be safe.
