I'm currently on a plane and I just woke up to find my phone missing. It was either knocked from my lap during some turbulence or possibly stolen while I was asleep. I've checked around my seat but no luck. My phone isn't connected to Wi-Fi or data since I fell asleep before connecting, and it's running low on battery (about 30%). I really want to know if I can use 'Find My iPhone' to locate it once we land. If my phone dies during the flight, will I still be able to find it when we get on the ground? I'm feeling really anxious about it because I just don't want someone to have taken it off my lap.

You can still log into 'Find My iPhone' on another Apple device or through the iCloud site. Just keep in mind that it only shows the last known location if your phone is powered off. However, if you connect to the flight's Wi-Fi, the 'Find My' network might help locate it on the plane without needing your phone online.
Unfortunately, once your phone dies, it won’t play a sound until it’s charged again. But it can still report its last known location if it's near other Apple devices, just not through 'Find My' directly.
If you have your Apple Watch, it’s a great way to ping your phone. It’s a handy feature that can help in situations like this!
If you have an Apple Watch, you can use it to ping your phone to see if it chirps. Just be aware that works via Bluetooth, so it might depend on whether your phone's Bluetooth is still on. Also, if someone else on the flight has an iPhone, maybe see if they can AirDrop something to you to check if your phone is nearby.
When you land, have someone call your number. You might hear it ringing if it’s nearby!

Actually, your phone can update its location near other Apple devices, but it won’t play a sound if it’s dead.
