What to Do When You Get a SMART Error on Your Hard Drive?

I've been having some issues with my MSI Cyborg 15 A13V laptop. I previously posted about various problems and decided to reinstall Windows based on some advice I received. For about a week, my laptop ran smoothly, except for one blue screen of death (BSOD). I have a minidump file from that incident, which I can share if needed. However, today while playing a game, my laptop froze again, and I've noticed a buzzing noise returning. I suspect my hard drive might be failing. I ran two hard drive checking tools, Victoria and HDDScan, and both indicated a SMART error. What should I do next?

A SMART error usually means your hard drive is showing signs of failing. It's important to back up any critical data immediately. You should also post the results from Victoria and HDDScan for a clearer diagnosis. Knowing those stats can help others suggest the next steps.

Got it, I'll get those results up soon. Thanks for the heads up!

Definitely back up your data first. You may also want to consider replacing the drive if the diagnostic results show significant issues.

Your computer might be on borrowed time with a SMART error. Make sure to extract and upload any minidump files you have; they can help diagnose BSODs. If you haven't done so already, you can configure your system to generate small memory dumps instead, which can provide better insights.

I'll check for those dump files and zip them! Thanks for the tip.

Good idea about the dumps; they can really help clarify what's causing these crashes.
