Hey everyone! I'm building my first PC and have put together a parts list. I'm looking for feedback on what I might want to upgrade or change before finalizing it. Here's the breakdown:
- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 3.9 GHz 6-Core Processor
- **CPU Cooler**: Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE
- **Motherboard**: Asus PRIME X870-P WIFI ATX AM5
- **Memory**: Patriot Viper Venom 32 GB DDR5-6000
- **Storage**: Western Digital Black SN770 2 TB NVME SSD
- **Video Card**: Gigabyte WINDFORCE SFF GeForce RTX 5070
- **Case**: NZXT H6 Flow RGB ATX Mid Tower
- **Power Supply**: Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 (2024) 850 W
- **Monitor**: MSI MAG 275QF 27.0" 2560 x 1440 180 Hz
- **Keyboard**: RK Royal Kludge RK61 Mini Keyboard
The total comes to about $1697.80, but I want to make sure I'm getting the best value for my money and that everything is compatible. Any suggestions?

If you’re sticking to your budget of around $1650, consider saving on the motherboard and switching to a Vetroo PSU. You can look into keeping the 9600X but upgrading slightly to the 9700X gives you a nice performance boost while still staying within budget. Here's a link to an optimized build I came up with.
That SSD is a solid choice! If you want both speed and capacity, it’s a great pick. Just make sure it fits your usage needs—especially if you're planning to store large games or software.
If you're looking for a better CPU cooler, check out the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120. It's about the same price as your current one but performs slightly better.
Your build looks solid overall! But you might want to reconsider the X870 motherboard since it doesn’t really boost performance. You could also save a bit by selecting a cheaper SSD and case. And I've heard the Thermaltake GF1 isn't the best choice; something like a Vetroo might give you better quality for a similar price.
Oh no! I’ve always had great experiences with my Toughpower PSUs. What’s wrong with them?
Here's a suggestion: You could swap the 9600X for a Ryzen 7 9700X, which has more cores. Your current graphics card is good, but prices seem to be insane lately, so check out alternatives like the RX 9070 if you can find a good deal. If you're focused on upgrades, just stick with the 9600X and maybe prioritize a better GPU later on.
That’s a good point! Just need to make sure I don’t go over my limits.
