A friend recently gave me his old PC, and he mentioned that I should upgrade it to improve efficiency. I'm a bit lost when it comes to knowing what parts are good or what needs updating. He even provided some spare parts to help me build it. Here's what I have:

- **GPU:** NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super (12 GB VRAM)
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 7 5800x 8-Core Processor
- **PSU:** Corsair CX Series CX550 80+ Bronze
- **CPU Cooler:** CORSAIR Nautilus 360 RS Liquid CPU Cooler
- **Motherboard:** ASUS PRIME B550M-A WIFI II (two RAM slots are broken)
- **RAM:** 12GB (2x6GB sticks)
- **SSD:** 1.5TB (1TB and 500GB)
- **Case:** CORSAIR Frame 4000D Modular Mid-Tower ATX PC Case

I have a budget of over 1,000 CAD, if necessary. Ultimately, I want the PC to be capable of running graphic-intensive games, video editing, and multitasking on two monitors. Let me know if you need more details!

Honestly, for a gifted PC, you have a solid foundation! The most significant upgrade would be your GPU. A model like the 5060 Ti with 16GB, the 5070, or even a 9060 XT would be great options.

Also, your RAM configuration is a bit unusual; I’d recommend upgrading to 32GB by swapping your current sticks for 2x16GB and then selling the old ones. That should keep you well within your budget!

What about the PSU and motherboard? Do you think they can handle a 5060?

Your PSU should be fine for a 5060, but make sure to check the wattage requirements for the GPU you choose. As for the motherboard, it’s decent, but consider replacing it if you plan on major upgrades down the line. Just watch out for compatibility!
