What’s the best HDD around €70 in Italy for replacing a failing 2TB drive?

I recently discovered that my 2TB Barracuda ST2000DM008 has 16 pending and 16 uncorrectable sectors. I'm looking for a good replacement drive of the same size, primarily for storing movies, photos, and music. I've been considering the Toshiba P300 or a WD Blue 7200RPM. Any recommendations or advice?

Just a note: those pending sectors mean your HDD might be on its way out. If the remapped sector count continues to rise, it's definitely time to replace it. You might get away with it for a while, but keep an eye on it!

Thanks for the tip! I’ve been using some tools to check for problematic files, but I’ll make sure to monitor the drive closely.

Before deciding, could you provide a couple of specific options within your budget? It might help narrow down the recommendations!

If you're mainly storing movies and music, a traditional HDD should work just fine. The WD Red Plus (5400RPM) is a solid choice. Just make sure to use rubber washers to reduce vibrations. Alternatively, I’d suggest considering the 4TB drives if you can stretch your budget a bit. They might be more future-proof since 2TB drives are becoming less common.

I’ve noticed that while the Red Plus drives are reliable, they can be a bit slower to start up when compared to higher RPM options like the WD Black, even though they perform well in benchmarks.

Thanks for the suggestion! I think I'll lean towards the 4TB option since I've heard 2TB drives are phasing out.
