I have a motherboard with an exposed and damaged USB port that I don't really use. However, I've noticed that if anything metal touches it, like another USB device, it shorts my computer and it shuts down immediately. The pins are clearly exposed, and I'm looking for a way to safely block it off or remove it without soldering. Any suggestions?

One of the simplest ways to block off a broken USB port is to use hot glue. Just make sure to apply it carefully to cover the exposed pins without affecting other components.
From my experience, a solid long-term solution involves either disabling the port in the BIOS or physically disconnecting the USB header if it’s internal. You could also fill it up with hot glue or epoxy, but remember to do this only when the PC is turned off and discharged to avoid any shorts.
If you can't disable the port in the BIOS, try using some non-conductive material to block it off. Tape or a small piece of plastic stuck in place can work too. Just ensure that nothing conductive gets close to those pins.
Don’t forget, there are rubber USB port covers sold online that could work too. Just look around on Amazon!
