I'm trying to reinstall Windows 10 on an HP 14-dk1025wm laptop that I got from my mom since she said it wasn't working anymore. I encountered an error code 0x800725d, and after some troubleshooting, I figured that maybe the RAM wasn't seated properly. I took it apart, re-seated the RAM, and booted from my USB device, but now I'm stuck with an orange screen displaying vertical white lines. I feel like I might have messed something up while fixing it. Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? Just to clarify, this issue only happens when trying to boot from the USB; the BIOS works fine and booting from the internal HDD just shows a blue screen with no text.

Did you have the laptop powered on when you tried to remove the RAM? Sometimes that can cause issues. Make sure the laptop is completely off before doing hardware changes!
To get a clearer picture of what’s going on, it would be great to check for dump files. If you can boot into Windows normally or in Safe Mode, check C:WindowsMinidump for any crash logs. These can help in diagnosing the blue screens you're seeing when booting from the internal HDD. You can upload them to a file sharing site if you find any!
Update: I ran the UEFI diagnostics on both the RAM and HDD, and both passed. Seems like hardware is okay from that test!
There’s a chance that the RAM might be faulty from the start. When you say you re-seated it, what exactly did you do?
I just re-seated it, sorry for the typo there!

Thanks for the tip! I made sure to turn it off this time when re-seating the RAM.
