My motherboard failed, and it might have taken the CPU with it. I'm looking to buy a new one and I'm torn between the 7800X3D and the 9800X3D. I mainly use my computer for Full HD gaming and programming at university. I've done all the tests and confirmed that my motherboard and CPU are indeed broken. Everything else in my setup works fine, but I don't have another motherboard with the same socket to confirm how bad the CPU is. Any advice on which CPU I should pick?

Just a heads-up: no matter which you choose, make sure to update your motherboard's BIOS and the latest AM5 chipset drivers. I switched from the 7800X3D to the 9800X3D recently, and while it wasn't a massive leap for me, my daughter is thrilled to have my old setup!
The main difference is that the 9800X3D runs a bit cooler than the 7800X3D. It's like comparing two sports cars that are almost the same speed but one is easier on the track. The cooler performance might be worth it in the long run!
Honestly, if you're not limited by budget, the 9800X3D is definitely the way to go. You'll see some better performance, especially if you play demanding games.
What's the price difference looking like? In some places, the two are pretty closely priced, so it might not hurt to choose based on that.
It's around 78.5€ where I live, so not too far off!
If budget isn't a concern for you, I say go for the 9800X3D. It's a solid choice!

Good point! Cooler performance could make a big difference in the lifespan if you're running high loads!
