Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade from my RTX 3060 12GB, and I'm trying to decide between the RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB and the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. Both cards are priced similarly in my country, although the 4070 SUPER might be slightly pricier. I'm considering a few factors: while the 4070 SUPER boasts better GPU power (213% vs 161% performance increase over the 3060), the 5060 Ti offers more VRAM (16GB vs 12GB).
I have a 2160p monitor and want to run older games at ultra settings, but I'm okay with adjusting settings for newer games. I primarily use DLSS for better performance and I'm curious about the DLSS features on the 4070 SUPER versus the potential tech benefits of the 5060 Ti.
However, I've heard about potential compatibility issues with the 5060 Ti on PCI-E 4.0 motherboards, and I'm not thrilled about NVIDIA's recent driver updates. Plus, the connector type on the 4070 SUPER has me a bit concerned.
Overall, I feel the 5060 Ti might handle VRAM demands better, but I really want more GPU power as well. What would you do in my situation? Thanks for your help!

I feel like you're overthinking this! The 5060 Ti is just not as good as the 4070 SUPER. Even with 16GB VRAM, it just doesn't compare. If you're considering long-term use, I wouldn’t even look at the 5060 Ti, just get the 4070 SUPER and enjoy better performance overall.
Check out this comparison video: https://youtu.be/HW2TdB4wTYE. That should give you a good overview of their performance.
There could be super variants dropping that have more VRAM later this year! If you can wait, it might be worth hanging on for those.
Honestly, I'd hold out for a bit longer and consider options like the 9070XT or the upcoming 5070 Ti. For 4K gaming, those will give you a considerable performance boost over the 4070 SUPER and 5060 Ti. If you’re building a new rig, making sure you invest heavily in the GPU will really pay off in the long run for 4K setups.
In raster graphics, the 4070 SUPER is definitely faster, and the 12GB VRAM should hold up for a while. But yes, at 4K, the 5060 Ti can deliver slightly more FPS. Both struggle below 30FPS at that resolution, though, so I’d lean towards the 4070 SUPER for better overall performance.
