I'm upgrading my setup and need some advice on RAM. Here are my system specs: RTX 5080, MSI MPG X870E EDGE TI WIFI, and AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D. I'm considering a few RAM kits:
1. XPG Lancer Blade RGB DDR5 6000 MHz – 32GB (2x16GB) – CL30
2. XPG Lancer Blade RGB DDR5 6400 MHz – 32GB (2x16GB) – CL32
3. Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 6400 MHz – 32GB (2x16GB) – CL32
4. G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB DDR5 6400 MHz – 32GB (2x16GB) – CL30 (more expensive)
I've read that 6000 MHz CL30 is ideal for AMD systems but am unsure since the price difference isn't huge. I wonder if I should go for the 6000 MHz CL30 and run it 1:1 with EXPO, or if I could get the 6400 MHz CL32 and potentially downclock it to 6000 MHz CL30 reliably. Would downclocking a 6400 MHz kit to 6000 MHz CL28 be easier than adjusting a native 6000 MHz CL30 to CL28? Also, which brand should I go for regarding reliability? I'd love to hear from anyone with experience! Thanks!

Honestly, there's not much difference between 6000/CL30 and 6000/CL28. Tests show that for most users, the performance difference is negligible. If you're gaming or doing regular tasks, you won't notice it at all, especially with a chip like the X3D that has a big L3 cache.

I just tested similar RAM setups and even with a significant difference in speed, it was only about a 2% performance variance at best. Most daily tasks would hardly tell the difference.
