Why Are My Case Fans Always Running at Max Speed?

I'm having an issue with the case fans in my desktop. I have a total of four fans: three at the front and one at the back. The back fan and the top front fan operate normally and respond to the RPM settings from the software. However, the two bottom front fans are stuck running at full speed. They're connected to the top front fan, which is plugged into system fan 2. Is there something I'm missing in the BIOS setup for these fans? I've checked for any loose connections, but everything seems to be connected fine.

So, just to clarify, your back fan is connected to one header and the front three fans are daisy-chained on another, right? That setup could be impacting their speeds.

Yes, that's correct!

It sounds like the fans that are running at full speed are 3-pin fans while the others are 4-pin. This difference in fan types could be causing the issue since they have different control schemes. You might want to try switching the header to DC mode instead of PWM mode, although keep in mind that voltage control can sometimes make certain fans a bit noisy if they are designed for 12V only.

I think you're onto something with the 3-pin and 4-pin difference. I tried changing the settings to voltage control, but unfortunately, that didn't help.
