I recently upgraded my graphics card from a 2060 to a 4060 due to overheating issues (it was hitting 90°C under medium load). However, now I'm experiencing significant FPS drops and stutters in nearly every game. I have a Ryzen 7 3700X and the RTX 4060 OC 8GB, along with 16GB DDR4 RAM. I've noticed that sometimes my GPU isn't performing higher than 40%, and both my CPU and GPU usage stay around 40% even in Minecraft, where I'm getting around 120 FPS but dropping to 55 at times. I've checked for thermal throttling since I renewed my thermal paste, and my CPU temp stays below 70°C under high load. Any advice on how to resolve this issue?

Are you keeping an eye on your CPU temps too? Sometimes, they can spike and affect performance just like your GPU.
Your RAM might be a limiting factor too. Since you only have 16GB total, you may not be allocating enough memory to Minecraft, especially if you're using mods. Try giving it more RAM to see how that affects performance!
It sounds like a driver issue could be a factor, but also remember that the CPU can bottleneck performance. Minecraft especially relies on the CPU, and it’s possible your CPU is maxing out while only pulling 40% from your GPU.
Thanks for the insight! I’m getting 2x 16GB DDR4 soon. How can I check per-core CPU usage?
If all else fails, back up your important files and consider doing a fresh install of Windows. Sometimes system buildup can lead to performance issues, and a clean slate can help.
It sounds like you might not have properly reinstalled the drivers after switching your GPU. Make sure you completely uninstall the old drivers before installing the new ones. Sometimes, simply plugging in the new GPU isn’t enough. That could be what's causing the stuttering.
No, I updated my drivers right away, so that shouldn't be the issue.
Yeah, I'm checking temps with MSI Afterburner, and they look fine.
