Why can’t I access my SD card files on my computer?

I've got a USB hub with a memory card reader, and I plugged in my SD card from my digital camera. When I connect it to my laptop, it doesn't seem to recognize the files. I can still view my pictures when the SD card is in the camera, so I'm pretty sure they're still there. However, on my computer, it just shows a confusing file name: 'USBC@Ã¥f.' Does anyone know why this could be happening?

Have you checked if your card reader is functioning properly? It could be faulty. I suggest trying a different card reader or testing with another memory card to see if the issue persists.

First off, what operating system are you using? It might help to try plugging the card reader into different USB ports, but make sure you safely eject the card first. Since your OS sees the card, it’s likely recognizing the partition too, which is a good sign. Also, what file type are you working with? Are the images JPEG or RAW? And what's your default photo viewer or editor? That might give us some clues.
