Why did I receive a mysterious Facebook notification on my PC?

I just booted up my PC and noticed a Facebook notification, even though I don't have Facebook open in my browser (I use Firefox) and I haven't installed any Facebook-related apps like Messenger or Instagram. I didn't manage to screenshot it, but it feels odd. I'm running Mint Cinnamon and I'm curious if anyone knows what might be happening here?

It sounds like it could be an email notification. Do you use an email client like Thunderbird? If so, that might be the source, but keep in mind it has to be open to get notifications. If it's not open, then that’s a bit strange.

I have Thunderbird set up as well, but it wasn’t open when I saw that notification. Plus, I don’t get any Facebook email notifications for birthdays or other updates.

Interesting point! If the notification was mostly blank, that raises some questions. Sometimes browser notifications can act up. Double-check your notification settings in Firefox—perhaps you have an old link or permission for Facebook that's still active. Also, if you’re logged into Firefox, it could sync info from any connected accounts you have.

That's a solid idea! I'll look into those settings. It's also worth checking if I have KDE Connect installed—could it have synced something from my phone?
