Lately, I've noticed that on startup my PC shows four command prompt windows for just a moment, and I've read that this can be normal, possibly linked to my Realtek audio driver starting up. However, while I was gaming, I tried to switch songs with Alt-Tab and my PC froze for about 4-5 seconds. After that, the CMD windows popped up again briefly. Is this behavior normal? I also ran Malwarebytes and did full scans through Windows, and everything came back clean just to be safe.

CMD pop-ups can often happen due to applications that open command prompts briefly during their startup. If they are recurring and coupled with performance issues like freezes, you might want to check your startup programs or even your event viewer for errors. It could also be a sign of resource overload, so monitoring your system performance during those incidents could provide additional clues.
Those quick CMD pop-ups can be due to various background processes starting up, and it can be related to drivers or system tasks rather than malware. However, the freezing you experienced could be a red flag, especially if it happens often. It’s good that you ran Malwarebytes; you might also want to perform a clean boot to see if the issue persists without third-party apps running. If it keeps happening, consider checking your system for any driver updates or conflicts.
To investigate what's running on your PC, you can use the 'netstat -b' command in an admin command prompt. This will show you which programs are actively connected. If you notice anything strange, it’s worth googling those processes. Just remember, malware scanners aren't always 100% effective. If you’re still worried, a clean reinstall of Windows is the best way to be sure your system is free of infections, but back up your data first!
