I have a pre-built PC with two USB ports on the top and four on the back. I also use a budget headset from Amazon and an Xbox controller from GameStop. The problem I'm facing is that the controller works perfectly, but as soon as I plug in my USB headset, it stops the controller from working. I often have to unplug and replug both devices just to get them to work together for a short time. Is it possible that my USB ports are faulty, or is there another issue at play? This is the second headset I've gotten from the same company, so I'm starting to suspect an issue with the ports themselves.

Have you tried plugging your headset into one of the back USB ports? Sometimes the front ports are less reliable. If that doesn’t work either, you might still want to consider getting a powered USB hub as a permanent solution.
It sounds like your two USB ports might be connected to a power regulator that can’t handle both devices at the same time. This can cause one of them to cut out or function poorly. It’s definitely a good idea to try a powered USB hub; plug both devices into that and see if the issue persists. If it does, you might be looking at a case of bandwidth limits rather than power limitations.

I did try that, and unfortunately, it didn't help. The controller continues to work fine until I connect the headset.
