Why Do Only Nouveau Drivers Work for My Nvidia GPU?

I'm using Debian 12 with KDE Plasma and have an RTX 2070 paired with an i7-8700k and 48GB of RAM. I've installed the proprietary Nvidia drivers, but I'm running into issues like strange artifacting in text, random crashes, and weird color splashes. The strange part is, everything runs fine on the nouveau drivers, so I can't help but think the proprietary driver might be corrupted. Even after purging all Nvidia drivers with `# apt purge "*nvidia*"` and reinstalling, I'm still facing these problems. Is there a better way to completely remove the old drivers, or could there be something else at play here?

If you're using nouveau, it’s a good idea to blacklist the Nvidia driver module to prevent conflicts. But if you're still having issues, it could be worth double-checking that this has been done correctly. Sometimes, these installations can get tangled up, so you want to make sure there is a clean slate before trying again.

I did try blacklisting but it didn't fix the issue.

You might want to try a few different Linux distros to see if the problem persists there as well. Some distros handle Nvidia drivers differently, and it’s possible that Debian has specific compatibility issues with certain driver versions for your GPU.

Are you saying that Debian might have problems with Nvidia cards? I’ve heard some things, but nothing this severe.
