Why Does My Computer Randomly Shut Down While Playing Overwatch 2?

I'm reaching out because I'm at my wit's end with a frustrating issue. Whenever I play Overwatch 2, specifically during the hero select screen, my computer just shuts down completely. It feels random – sometimes it happens right as I load into the game, sometimes while I'm picking my hero, and occasionally after I've been waiting a while. Overall, it crashes about once in every 8 or 9 matches. Once I get past that screen, I can play with good performance at 250 FPS without any problems.

My setup includes an Intel Core i5-13600KF, an AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT, 32 GB of high-speed RAM, and an 850W power supply. I've tried a lot of troubleshooting steps, including updating the BIOS, changing the power supply, clean reinstalling GPU drivers, checking all cables, reseating the RAM, and even reinstalling the game. I have no overheating issues, as my components rarely exceed 70 degrees Celsius.

I've checked with PCPartPicker, and it says my estimated power needs are around 568W, and I'm well above that with my PSU. I've also played other demanding games without a hitch, which makes this even weirder. Does anyone know what the hero select screen does that might cause my computer to shut down? I'm starting to think it might be a RAM issue or maybe a software conflict.

I've opened a ticket with Blizzard but would love to hear if anyone else has faced this problem or has any insights into what could be causing it.

Have you checked the temperatures of your CPU and GPU while gaming? Sometimes even if they feel okay, they might spike unexpectedly. It’s a good idea to monitor them through an app while you're playing to be sure.

Yeah, I've looked into it. I usually don’t see my CPU or GPU go over 70-75 degrees Celsius during gameplay.

It’s really strange, right? I had a similar problem with some LEGO games shutting down my system. You mentioned there are no error logs, but did you check for any critical logs that might indicate an unexpected shutdown? It could be pointing towards a temperature issue after all.
