I've been having a tough time with my HP Victus laptop, as it's experiencing severe stuttering in games, with frame rates dropping from over 40 FPS to single digits. This makes gaming almost impossible. Here are my specs:
- HP Victus 16-D0000
- 11th Gen Intel Core i5-11400H @ 2.70GHz
- Nvidia GTX 1650
- 16 GB RAM
I took the laptop in for fan repairs back in October, and after getting it back, I faced freezing issues which the repair shop attributed to a loose screw. They fixed it and it worked fine for a couple of days, but now I'm back to fluctuating frame rates. They replaced the SSD too, thinking overheating was the problem, but the issue persists. I've tested games like Control and Call of Duty: World at War, and they've all shown unstable frame rates.
I've tried updating all my drivers and running diagnostic tests but with no luck. What else can I do or how can I figure this out?

Have you checked the power settings on your laptop? It might be set to battery saver or balanced mode, which can affect performance. Switching to performance mode is usually the way to go.

It's on performance mode, but I just tried running games on battery power, and they actually work fine. So the issue seems to be only when it's plugged in.
