Why does my new laptop keep crashing after Windows updates?

Hey everyone! I recently got a new laptop with no operating system and installed Windows 11 Education using a license key from my school. However, I'm facing a frustrating issue. Every time Windows installs an update, my laptop crashes and enters a blue screen loop that lasts about 15 minutes, which prevents it from reaching Windows Recovery. I've managed to recover it a few times by resetting the BIOS, letting it sit overnight, or waiting until it eventually reaches Windows Recovery, where I can reinstall Windows from the recovery or a bootable USB. I even tried using a system restore point, but it crashed during that process. Booting into Safe Mode has been my go-to fix, but now I'm stuck because another update is due, and I'm worried it will break my system again. Has anyone else dealt with something like this, and do you know any permanent fixes? My laptop is a Lenovo LOQ 15IRX10 with an Intel i7 13th gen and Nvidia 5070. Thanks in advance!

Have you tried collecting dump files from the crashes? They can provide insight into what's causing the BSODs. If you can get into Windows or Safe Mode, check the C:WindowsMinidump folder for any dump files. Zipping them and uploading somewhere like catbox.moe could help us analyze the issue better!

That's a solid idea! The more information we have, the better we can pinpoint the problem. Just make sure to follow the guides carefully when setting up your dumps.

It sounds like you might be dealing with a conflict between Windows updates and your drivers or BIOS. I recommend that you try manually updating all drivers from Lenovo's support site. This can often solve issues like the one you’re experiencing. In the meantime, consider pausing automatic updates until you have everything sorted out. It might give you some peace of mind!

Yeah, definitely! Keeping your drivers up-to-date can make a big difference. Also, don't forget to check if there's a BIOS update available, since sometimes those can help with instability issues too.
