Why Does My PC Crash After Enabling XMP?

Hey everyone! I've been having a really frustrating issue with my PC. Whenever I enable XMP I or XMP II, my computer either shuts down after booting into Windows, starts boot looping, or freezes while Windows is loading. Sometimes it even goes into Windows repair mode but ends up freezing during that process too. My setup includes an Asus Prime Z690 P-D4 motherboard, an i7 12700k CPU, and 4x8GB of DDR4 TridentZ RAM with a maximum speed of 3200. I've made sure the RAM and PSU cables are securely connected, and I even cleaned the RAM slots. To make matters worse, I've noticed that if I move my PC, it might boot loop when I try to turn it back on, and the only fix seems to be reseating the far left RAM stick. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It sounds like enabling XMP might be causing issues due to having four RAM sticks instead of two. This setup can complicate things a bit. I recommend manually setting the voltage to around 1.35V and then gradually increasing the speed to see if that helps stabilize it. Also, you might want to run some tests with OCCT to check for stability once you make these adjustments.

I’ve heard that using four sticks can sometimes lead to instability with XMP profiles. Just because your OCCT tests went fine without XMP doesn't necessarily mean your hardware is faulty, but it might be worth trying to adjust the settings manually like suggested. It could really help in getting everything working smoothly.
