Hey everyone! So back in November 2024, I upgraded to a 4080 Super GPU and got a Corsair RM1000E power supply. However, about a month and a half later, my living room circuit breaker tripped. The maintenance team said I might have too many devices on the same circuit. We've previously run two gaming PCs along with a portable AC without issues last summer. Currently, though, I only have my PC and the AC unit running, and it's still tripping. I unplugged various devices, including some LED lights, to try to prevent this. I even got a smart UPS from APC, which is great, but it only records blackout events, not overloads. My breaker is rated at 15A, and I'm wondering if it simply can't handle the load anymore. It's frustrating that I'm paying $2200 a month for a one-bedroom place and can't run my PC and AC simultaneously without issues. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!

The AC unit is a major factor here; those things can pull around 1500 watts on their own. Your gaming PC with a 4080 Super likely draws around 450-600 watts. You might need to get an electrician to see if it’s feasible to upgrade your circuit to 20 amps. If that’s not possible, installing a dedicated circuit for the AC could be the solution. Good luck!
Definitely gonna try and hassle the maintenance guys a little and see if we can make it happen. It doesn’t make sense that we had more stuff on the circuit last year with no issues until now. Cheers!
