I've noticed a frustrating issue where my SSD hits 100% usage whenever I download anything on my computer. During this time, everything freezes for a second or two, and the download practically stops until the SSD usage drops again. This cycle repeats until the download finishes, usually taking place with files around 1GB. I can't figure out if it's a hardware or software issue, especially since I have plenty of free space on the SSD. Does anyone have any idea why this happens?

You might want to mention the model of your SSD. Sometimes specific models have known issues that could be contributing to this kind of behavior.
Have you checked how your CPU is performing while this is happening? It could be that the CPU is acting as a bottleneck and causing the slowdown during downloads. Just a thought!
It's worth keeping an eye on the temperatures of both your CPU and SSD. If either gets too hot, they might throttle to protect themselves, which could be leading to the problems you're experiencing.
Good point! I know my CPU is running fine, but this SSD is about seven years old and doesn’t have a temperature sensor, so I can't check if it’s overheating.
I appreciate the suggestion! My CPU usage is actually pretty healthy around 20-40%, so I don't think that’s the issue.
