Why is Dell asking for so many roles just to provide me with the CALs I purchased?

I'm trying to get the Client Access Licenses (CALs) I bought, but Dell is insisting I grant GDAP access for 97 roles, including roles like Global Admin, to my tenant. This seems excessive, especially since I don't even provide Global Admin privileges to all of our IT staff, let alone to some external party. Am I misunderstanding something here, or is this just wrong?

From what I've seen, some resellers use old methods and ask for more access than necessary to manage subscriptions. If they really need a role, it should be a simple licensing role, not Global Admin.

Exactly. They should stick to what’s required, not overreach.

Yeah, this sounds like another scam tactic. I've had similar experiences where vendors want ridiculous permissions. Just tell them they can access your network once they provide a valid reason. What you really need is just for them to apply the licenses you've already bought.

Good idea! Keep the power in your court.

I agree! They need to justify their requests.

CALs are just Client Access Licenses, right? It confuses me why they dictate terms for your setup. It's your environment! Have you tried asking them to clarify why such access is necessary?

Right? A vendor dictating terms in your own tenant is absurd.

Yes, that’s exactly what I plan to do. I need answers!

I totally get your frustration! It's really strange that Dell needs so much access just to give you CALs. If you've already paid for them, they shouldn't need to poke around in your tenant like that. Why would they want Global Admin access anyway? Seems like they're just trying to upsell unnecessary services.

CuriousCat99 -

Exactly my thoughts! It's puzzling why they would ask for access they don't need.

Right? If they do need some form of access, it should be minimal, not full control.
